Long ago, St. Patty's Day was a time for celebration. A day for green beer, Irish Whisky, debauchery, and colorful vomit (if I had too much of the first three). Today, after marriage, three kids, and gainful employment, it means work and responsibility. Where did the fun go?
With middle age comes trading in "wild and crazy" for "responsibility and family". I can't complain, as they are both fulfilling in different ways. However, imagining myself drinking ale in a pub sounds very appealing to me right now. The problem is that I'm too old for drunken weekdays before kids, and too young for drunken weekdays after said children are grown. Apparently, I'm in the age bracket of "Lame".
My younger friends are currently whooping it up, drinking like fish and having a grand ole time. Good for them. My much older acquaintances are drinking fine scotch and smoking cigars. Me? I'm at my desk drinking espresso and making stock trades. Dammit.
Enjoy the day, stay safe, and keep in mind that someday you will be in my situation. Cheers!!

Last year I had corned beef & cabbage, two kinds of beer and a shot of Jameson. Now I am just hoping to find a can of Murphy's and make some soda bread. I did absolutely nothing interesting this weekend either. And I also forgot to wear my Guinness shirt to work on the one day it would be appropriate. Boooooo Real Life™.

This year, I'll celebrate by putting a new tire on my wife's car and going home. WOOO...

What keeps me going is the thought of all the crazy shit I will be able to do when the kids are all out of the house. Walking around the house naked, trips to the Caymans, weekend fun, fast cars, etc.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, we're just from it too far to see it. BUT IT'S THERE!!!

LOL Yes. One Person I work with is just a Generation (Maybe 2) ahead of me, so kids are taking care of themselves (or gone off). I stop in their office every now and then and say, it gets better right??? They laugh alot and shake their heads. the problem is the concerns don't end. They just change.
Keep the faith Bro! (track day? Bro? You even lift?)
